A great meeting today as we welcomed local and international Rotaract members.

Joining us were Kean University Rotaract Club members Gilson Maza and Kwame Eni, who recently attended the Rotaract RYLA conference in Washington DC.

They reported back on the interesting lectures they attended, and the fellowship of meeting Rotaract students from around the world.

President elect Marie Krupinski also welcomed a Rotaract student visiting from Mexico, Cristhian Zapata Pardo.

Marie presented our Club’s donation to Leo Gonzalez, Membership Engagement Director of the Elizabeth YMCA. The funds will be used to assist with the “Y’s” Summer Camp programs.

Our guest speaker was Fire Official Chris Lysy, who spoke to us about fire prevention.

First & foremost….keep the batteries fresh in your smoke & CO2 detectors…and call 911 QUICKLY!!

Marie was rewarded for her hard work today by winning the 50/50 but the lucky card remains in the deck. (it’s reported that we’re now playing with a half deck) hmmm

An excellent program today presented by Charles Shallcroft, President of the Union County Historical Society.

Charlie’s program was a slide presentation of “Postcards from Elizabeth”, a wonderful look at Elizabeth in the early 1900’s.

One of the postcards was of the Elizabeth Elks Home. Coincidently, this was the original meeting place of the Rotary Club of Elizabeth in 1917!

Charlie was thanked by President Bob Tombs and Rotarian Rich Esperon, a longtime friend and fellow teacher in the Elizabeth School system.

Cara Pavia won the 50/50 but alas, did not pull the lucky card. The jackpot continues to grow.

We were joined today by members of the Elizabeth Garden Club, Cathy Sullivan, President and Linda Weaver, Vice President.

We learned of all the fine work the Garden club does in keeping Elizabeth beautiful, but in particular we learned about a project called Wreaths across America which helps to honor those who bravely served our Country.

Marie Krupinski had the lucky 50/50 ticket but pulled a not so lucky card.. The jackpot continues to grow!
